Nicholas is happily married and hopes to live long enough to walk his daughter down the aisle.
Qualifications
Nicholas graduated from the University of Warwick in 1990. He was called to the English Bar in 1992 and the Singapore Bar in 1994. He completed his Master of Laws in Commercial Law at the National University of Singapore in 1997. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public.
Areas of Practice
Nicholas' areas of interest are mainly in property related matters such as Conveyancing and Strata Management matters.
He manages in all matters relating to sales and purchases of real property. He has acted for Management Corporations in disputes with developers and with subsidiary proprietors in the management of Strata Titles. His other practice areas include corporate, estate planning, family law, criminal law and the protection of intellectual property rights.
In his 17 years of practice, Nicholas has appeared at all levels of the court hierarchy, from the Subordinate Courts to the Court of Appeal. He has also appeared in hearings at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore and the Strata Titles Board. His experience includes State Assigned Capital Cases where he is involved in the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences to pro bono work with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.
Nicholas was a part time lecturer and tutor with the National University of Singapore and now tutors at the Part B Course for admission to the Bar which is organised by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE).
Other Activities in the Law
Apart from the law, Nicholas plays Sunday soccer with the old boys of Saint Joseph’s Institution. He also dabbles into the culinary world where he sometimes invites himself to cook for the chefs in order to augment his own personal sentiments and often engages in the analysis, evaluation, or appreciation of the world of fine dining. He has written regular columns in a few local publications. and currently sits on the Board of the Disabled Peoples’ Association.
